Resolutions
What is a resolution? A resolution is a legislative idea/concern that a member or state would like NGAUS to work with Congress. Proposed resolutions are solicited on an annual basis from the NGASD membership.
Why is the resolutions process important? Resolutions are focused on maintaining and improving the National Guard – its equipment, capabilities and the quality of life of its Soldiers and Airmen and their families.
Resolutions are categorized as follows – Joint, Air or Army, the Air or Army resolutions on equipment and missions which fall under their respective commands. While Joint resolutions relate to issues such as personnel, benefits, medical and domestic operations.
Resolutions proposed at the state level are reviewed during the annual state conference, if approved during the business session they are then forwarded for consideration at the national level where they will be voted on at the annual NGAUS convention. A call for resolutions will be put out leading up to the Mid-Winter conference in Pierre. If you have an issue which you would like to have considered as a resolution please contact one of the resolutions committee members.
To review all of the standing national resolutions or to get more information on the resolutions process log into the NGAUS website http://www.ngaus.org/ and click on the Issues & Advocacy tab.
